What kind of foundation is best for me if I'm having trouble with dry patches and come coverage issues?

I never had this probem until the past year or 2. I use moistureizer religously, also! I have been using Cover Girl's Aqua Smooth compact but, get dry patches and sometimes it seems like my forehead doesn't get much coverage(expecially between my eyebrows) and just looks dry. I then tried Cover Girl's CG Smoothers Aqua but, it didn't blend well at all and still left dry patches all over. I tried the Cover Girl mousse or whipped foundation(whatever it's called) and got dry patches. I tried the Cover Girl matte powder foundation and still had problems with dry patches and that coverage thing. It seems like no matter what I use I get dry patches everywhere and it looks HORRIBLE!!! It's so embarassing. I use moistureizer everyday so, that's not the problem.

IDK what to do or what to use, now. I looked at Clinque's new moisturizing foundation but, I don't want to spend $20 on something that might not work.

Any help would be greatly appriecated. Thanks! What kind of foundation is best for me if I'm having trouble with dry patches and come coverage issues?
first off the problem could be your moisturizer and skin care. Many commercial products (loreal, neutrogena, almay, dove etc...) use chemicals in their products that are known to cause contact dermatitis and dry skin (yes even moisturizers claiming to help dry skin) your best bet is to get either a natural/organic moisturizer to start or get a bottle of straight jojoba oil or grapeseed oil (great for all skin types, especially acne prone) once you get to that point you must also know that the same companies who use these chemicals in their skin care also use the chemicals in their makeup products, therefore really aggravating your condition. Clinique, estee lauder, Mary kay etc... are just as bad and will eventually make your skin worse over time. My advice to you as a professional makeup artist and skin care specialist is to switch your products to the organic/natural based ones and you will see a tremendous difference. Trust me, celebrities use organic/natural products and their skin is very important, they may advertise for (estee lauder, clinique, revlon, loreal etc...) but trust me, they don't use it. I personally use on myself a very prestigious brand called faerie organic. They sell skin care and mineral makeup. Their makeup is top of the line (better than bare escentuals etc) and I use it on all my clientel) it blends beautifully and they make custom products so if you tell them what your problem is they can formulate something just for you. You can see their site here......http://www.faerieorganic.comWhat kind of foundation is best for me if I'm having trouble with dry patches and come coverage issues?

  • What is the best foundation & concealer for someone with a bit of redness and dry patches?

i went from living next to the ocean to living in new mexico.

all the make up i used to use, isn't holding up to the dry, high climate of the desert.

i'm somewhat fair skinned and i get some redness in my cheeks and around my nose plus i get dry patches around my nose and under and around my eyes.

i've tried a lot of different products and i just can't seem to find anything that works.... something i could find at a drug store or like a wal*mart.

    anyone have any suggestions?

thanks so much! What is the best foundation %26amp; concealer for someone with a bit of redness and dry patches?
Try some type of moisturizing face wash.

It will put a lot more natural oils back into your skin, so it won't be dry.

You can find them at Walmart or other drug stores, but you should go to Estee Lauder. They have great moisturizers!

Also, you may want to lay off makeup for a while.

What is the best foundation for combination skin, i have extremely dry patches and some more oily spots,?

I can't stand the way my creme to powder foundation makes me look now, It's made my milani and it makes my nose look like its peeling. I have an extremely dry patch underneath above my top lip and most of the time it looks like my skin is peeling and flaking off.

I have a moisturizer which doesn't really work anymore, even though it's perscription grade.

So, it is extremely hard for me to find something that covers my redness, and doesn't cake up on my dry patch,

if you can help with some super mouisturizers and some amazing foundation, i would greatly appreciate it.What is the best foundation for combination skin, i have extremely dry patches and some more oily spots,?
Not really sure what I would recommend to you. There are so many products out there so what I end up doing is starting with the less expensive and trying out several products. This is a good review website at http://www.brandsmakeup.com visit and browse the reviews. What is the best foundation for combination skin, i have extremely dry patches and some more oily spots,?
Try a matt mousse foundation, that's what i use, i have the same problem as you :]

Also, put a light concealer on redness, (i do on my forehead)

I use cocoa body butter as a moisturizer :]

I have similar skin, and I use a moisturizer, and then I use a little of the Sephora brand primer before I put on liquid foundation and concealer. I use Maybelline Pure Makeup foundation [I think that's what it's called....It's the one in the blueish tube....]
First of all, stay away from store bought moisturizers. Try to find something natural, like the stuff I use from Evans Garden (online). Has good stuff in it.

For makeup, you should try the Hollywood mineral foundation from LA Minerals. I have combo skin too, and it's really good about absorbing oil where needed and retaining moisture where needed. Think it's cuz of the silk powder in it.

Anyways they have samples for like $1 on their website. They ship em free:)

What is the best foundation for controling sport breakouts and ooily patches on my forhead!???

in the u.k. at boots or superdrugWhat is the best foundation for controling sport breakouts and ooily patches on my forhead!???
Hi I have oily skin and found anything foundation that I used didnt make a difference so I just use a shine control powder and used this when needed.

Most of all you need an oil free foundation, but if you have sentivie skin like mine you find these may even bring out spots and cause more problems as its other ingredients that are effecting you skin like add moisturisers or the perfume.

I am trying superdrugs cheap 2true make its buy 3 items for 5 pound and to be honest its pretty good and I dont think I would even need powder as well as its really good at mattifying the skin. Its not bad for 1.95.

I ve tried all sorts even expensive ones and im nearly allergic to them all, I know superdrug do there so clear one in a medicated foundation, this one is good but as my skin is sensitve it can cause irritation because of the spot fighting ingredients. thats only like 2.50 too.

But really all you need is a powder to finish off the foundation and then you will be fine, Also them shine papers work well. What is the best foundation for controling sport breakouts and ooily patches on my forhead!???
POwder foundations work to not block pores and cover what is already there. Liquid is huge no, it'll block them more. I use oil abrosbant papers like clean and clear or biore papers. Just lightly tap on forehead to remove oil.
true match it a good foundation to use, but try puttin a bit of toothpaste on your spots to dry them out x
    1. stay away from sports

    2. don't rub forehead while changing oil in car

    tehee
    for the oily-ness

powder works good, mind you if you sweat while wearing it,some types of powder make you look like you have a dirty face.

so i'd say the best way to put it on is to use a brush instead of the little pad thingy in it.

and the breakouts, you can't really hide the acne itself.

you can get rid of reddness with a powder,or a liquid.

liquid usually seems to work better.

    hope this helped.

Hi! i have very fair, sensitive, and oily skin, with a few dry patches on my cheeks.im looking for a foundation?

help please!Hi! i have very fair, sensitive, and oily skin, with a few dry patches on my cheeks.im looking for a foundation?
first i'd go to your dermatologist and get meds and creames if you are trying to cover up acne

then i'd look for makeup that says oil free on it

or try natural makeup like bare minerals

My foundation always wears off in patches leaving my skin look really dry, help?

    Hello :)

Do you have a skin routine? Or do you just put make up on on its own?

I used to have this exact problem, I used to just clean my face and then apply makeup, it wouldn't stay nice for long.

    http://www.clinique.co.uk/templates/prod…

I found this really helped, and has made my skin nice. So much so that some days I don't even bother with the make up :)

Obviously there are other products out there you could try, but something along the lines of this could really help :)

Good luck xMy foundation always wears off in patches leaving my skin look really dry, help?
    Hi there,

It probably looks dry because it IS dry. I've had the same problem with foundation wearing off in patches and I've reduced this problem with exfoliating and finding a good moisturizer that works for my dry skin. I also switched foundations.

Currently I am using Loreal Bare Naturals Mineral foundation with good results. The coverage of minerals is great so I use less and that also helps to not look dry and cakey. I don't find that the minerals wears off in spots either and you can build up your foundation where you'd like it heavier and use a lighter hand where you don't need so much coverage.

As for my dry skin routine, I do not use soap or toners on my face at all. I'm currently using Bioderma for my eye make up remover and La Posey Physiological Cleansing Milk as my cleanser; I moisturize with Cetaphil Barrier Cream with Shea butter. I exfoliate once or twice a month using plain white sugar from the kitchen.

Try the mineral foundation or try Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation...this is a full coverage foundation that does not budge. Honest! It will look heavier, but it's worth asking for a sample. I have tried it and loved it, but it doesn't come in a shade for my very fair complexion so I didn't continue with it.

Finally, you may find it worth visiting a dermatologist to rule out any other conditions like eczema causing those dry patches. They'll require different creams that the doc can prescribe.

Hope these suggestions help. Have a beautiful day!My foundation always wears off in patches leaving my skin look really dry, help?
If your skin is dry get a good moisturiser for dry skin and apply it before you put your foundation on. Also ,exfoliate your skin every morning to shed dead skin cell's so bits of skin don't fall of during the day when you have your make-up on which will leave it looking patchy and dry. Hope i helped.
Have you tried using a moisturizer before you apply your makeup? I used to have very oily skin and cream foundation would never sit still so I only used powder. Now I have dry skin and have to use moisturizer, then cream foundation and it lasts all day.
you should wash your face every morning and at night. Before you go to bed, and in the morning, put on moisturizer. if that doesn't work...(which it should), then use a foundation with an oil base.

    hope this helped! xOx
You can use a light Oil of olay moisturizer oil free or normal then a revlon color stay foundation. Doesn't even look like I wear make up and I get compliments all the time. People say they do not believe I wear make up. It lasts all day no fading. Good luck
    Primer :) works wonders.

If it's mousse foundation though.. this is reknown for it.

    What foundation is it?
before applying foundation put on a lotion moisturizer or get a toner from kiss my face. that helps too.=p
Nivea Visage. It`s a moisturiser and foundation all in one.
Before you put on foundation be sure to put on lots of face cream. The key is to moisturize!
put face primer and a good moisturizer !!!!
    use a mostirser:D

    Flaky foundation patches!!?

I have tried all sorts of foundation - dry skin / combo skin etc.. and all seem to leave my nose flakey and cakey looking.

I end up washing it off and re-moisturisering and trying again. But then I find it goes all funny because the moisturiser is still there..... help!!Flaky foundation patches!!?
i had the same problem but then i started using mineral make-up. i asked my friend whos a make-up artist and she gave me some really good tips and now im fine when using it.

first exfoliate to get rid of any dry or flaky skin. if you are going to be doing this every day get a super gentle one like liz earle as not to damage your skin.

allow your moisturizer to dry and absorb before applying your make-up, this may take a few minutes.

always use a non-mineral, oil-based moisturizer that will not clog pores. if your moisturizer does not absorb into your skin, neither will your mineral makeup.

use a setting powder as a base all over if you have oily skin...it will help absorb the oil naturally.

using special enhancers such as ';polished'; will refract light and make your dark under-eye cirles disappear. also use in the corner of eyes, mouth, etc. to reduce the appearance of fine lines.

mineral make-up should be applied in light layers. if you feel you need more coverage, keep applying light layers.

i have found the least drying mineral make up to be loreals true match minerals, if you follow these tips it might improve the look of it. also you could try using a deep moisturising cream before applying make-up something like elizibeth ardens eight hour moisturising cream. good luck.

    hope this helps

    xFlaky foundation patches!!?
I get the same thing and now i only wash my face at night, and use Aveeno or Cetaphil moisturizers because they're very gentle on your skin but do the job right. If your skin gets irritated easily, only wash it at night to take off your makeup then apply the moisturizer, but not too heavily or you get the funny feelin on your skin. Then in the morning, apply more moisturizer[don't wash your face], wait at least 5 minutes for your skin to soak it up, and apply a foundation like Maybelline's 'Pure Makeup' or CoverGirl's 'Clean'. If rubbing and blending the foundation irritates your skin, try a mineral foundation from Maybelline, bareMinerals, or L'Oreal's Naturale powders.

Also, you might find it helpful to exfoliate once a week(St. Ives is ok but even the sensitive formula can be rough, so I suggest using a beaded exfoliator from a brand such as Aveeno or Clearasil, or pHisoderm) and use a clay mask(like the purple one from Mary Kay) every other week.
    MOISTURIZE at night.

    EXFOLIATE in morning.

Just concentrate on dry patches. or you will end up w/ messed up oily or damaged skin if you do this daily.
Put moisturiser (lotion) on the night BEFORE. Then, in the morning, you wont be flaky or cakey. Moisturise at night!!!
You need a skin care program that exfoliates. every one needs to get rid of that dead skin.
Perhaps your moisturiser is too rich. Try applying without using moisturiser.
You need a good foundation make then.. like Mac or something. Also maybe see what works better, powder or liquid etc. Keep moisturising before though.
I use YSL perfect touch, doesn't flake or look patchy and leaves skin looking flawless all day long. Also has an SPF in it

    xx
I have the same problem. I put a thick layer of moisturizer over my dry patches wait for about 30 mins then wash your face free of moisturizer that usually helps me.
i agree a good foundation makes all the difference. Mac cosmetics are excellent, try it :)
try clinique liquid foundation.. it is great
wow stop buying foundatin from grocery stores
