What kind of foundation is best for me if I'm having trouble with dry patches and come coverage issues?

I never had this probem until the past year or 2. I use moistureizer religously, also! I have been using Cover Girl's Aqua Smooth compact but, get dry patches and sometimes it seems like my forehead doesn't get much coverage(expecially between my eyebrows) and just looks dry. I then tried Cover Girl's CG Smoothers Aqua but, it didn't blend well at all and still left dry patches all over. I tried the Cover Girl mousse or whipped foundation(whatever it's called) and got dry patches. I tried the Cover Girl matte powder foundation and still had problems with dry patches and that coverage thing. It seems like no matter what I use I get dry patches everywhere and it looks HORRIBLE!!! It's so embarassing. I use moistureizer everyday so, that's not the problem.

IDK what to do or what to use, now. I looked at Clinque's new moisturizing foundation but, I don't want to spend $20 on something that might not work.

Any help would be greatly appriecated. Thanks! What kind of foundation is best for me if I'm having trouble with dry patches and come coverage issues?
first off the problem could be your moisturizer and skin care. Many commercial products (loreal, neutrogena, almay, dove etc...) use chemicals in their products that are known to cause contact dermatitis and dry skin (yes even moisturizers claiming to help dry skin) your best bet is to get either a natural/organic moisturizer to start or get a bottle of straight jojoba oil or grapeseed oil (great for all skin types, especially acne prone) once you get to that point you must also know that the same companies who use these chemicals in their skin care also use the chemicals in their makeup products, therefore really aggravating your condition. Clinique, estee lauder, Mary kay etc... are just as bad and will eventually make your skin worse over time. My advice to you as a professional makeup artist and skin care specialist is to switch your products to the organic/natural based ones and you will see a tremendous difference. Trust me, celebrities use organic/natural products and their skin is very important, they may advertise for (estee lauder, clinique, revlon, loreal etc...) but trust me, they don't use it. I personally use on myself a very prestigious brand called faerie organic. They sell skin care and mineral makeup. Their makeup is top of the line (better than bare escentuals etc) and I use it on all my clientel) it blends beautifully and they make custom products so if you tell them what your problem is they can formulate something just for you. You can see their site here......http://www.faerieorganic.comWhat kind of foundation is best for me if I'm having trouble with dry patches and come coverage issues?

  • What is the best foundation & concealer for someone with a bit of redness and dry patches?

i went from living next to the ocean to living in new mexico.

all the make up i used to use, isn't holding up to the dry, high climate of the desert.

i'm somewhat fair skinned and i get some redness in my cheeks and around my nose plus i get dry patches around my nose and under and around my eyes.

i've tried a lot of different products and i just can't seem to find anything that works.... something i could find at a drug store or like a wal*mart.

    anyone have any suggestions?

thanks so much! What is the best foundation %26amp; concealer for someone with a bit of redness and dry patches?
Try some type of moisturizing face wash.

It will put a lot more natural oils back into your skin, so it won't be dry.

You can find them at Walmart or other drug stores, but you should go to Estee Lauder. They have great moisturizers!

Also, you may want to lay off makeup for a while.

    =]

What is the best foundation for combination skin, i have extremely dry patches and some more oily spots,?

I can't stand the way my creme to powder foundation makes me look now, It's made my milani and it makes my nose look like its peeling. I have an extremely dry patch underneath above my top lip and most of the time it looks like my skin is peeling and flaking off.

I have a moisturizer which doesn't really work anymore, even though it's perscription grade.

So, it is extremely hard for me to find something that covers my redness, and doesn't cake up on my dry patch,

if you can help with some super mouisturizers and some amazing foundation, i would greatly appreciate it.What is the best foundation for combination skin, i have extremely dry patches and some more oily spots,?
Not really sure what I would recommend to you. There are so many products out there so what I end up doing is starting with the less expensive and trying out several products. This is a good review website at http://www.brandsmakeup.com visit and browse the reviews. What is the best foundation for combination skin, i have extremely dry patches and some more oily spots,?
Try a matt mousse foundation, that's what i use, i have the same problem as you :]

Also, put a light concealer on redness, (i do on my forehead)

I use cocoa body butter as a moisturizer :]

I have similar skin, and I use a moisturizer, and then I use a little of the Sephora brand primer before I put on liquid foundation and concealer. I use Maybelline Pure Makeup foundation [I think that's what it's called....It's the one in the blueish tube....]
First of all, stay away from store bought moisturizers. Try to find something natural, like the stuff I use from Evans Garden (online). Has good stuff in it.

For makeup, you should try the Hollywood mineral foundation from LA Minerals. I have combo skin too, and it's really good about absorbing oil where needed and retaining moisture where needed. Think it's cuz of the silk powder in it.

Anyways they have samples for like $1 on their website. They ship em free:)

What is the best foundation for controling sport breakouts and ooily patches on my forhead!???

in the u.k. at boots or superdrugWhat is the best foundation for controling sport breakouts and ooily patches on my forhead!???
Hi I have oily skin and found anything foundation that I used didnt make a difference so I just use a shine control powder and used this when needed.

Most of all you need an oil free foundation, but if you have sentivie skin like mine you find these may even bring out spots and cause more problems as its other ingredients that are effecting you skin like add moisturisers or the perfume.

I am trying superdrugs cheap 2true make its buy 3 items for 5 pound and to be honest its pretty good and I dont think I would even need powder as well as its really good at mattifying the skin. Its not bad for 1.95.

I ve tried all sorts even expensive ones and im nearly allergic to them all, I know superdrug do there so clear one in a medicated foundation, this one is good but as my skin is sensitve it can cause irritation because of the spot fighting ingredients. thats only like 2.50 too.

But really all you need is a powder to finish off the foundation and then you will be fine, Also them shine papers work well. What is the best foundation for controling sport breakouts and ooily patches on my forhead!???
POwder foundations work to not block pores and cover what is already there. Liquid is huge no, it'll block them more. I use oil abrosbant papers like clean and clear or biore papers. Just lightly tap on forehead to remove oil.
true match it a good foundation to use, but try puttin a bit of toothpaste on your spots to dry them out x
    1. stay away from sports

    2. don't rub forehead while changing oil in car

    tehee
    for the oily-ness

powder works good, mind you if you sweat while wearing it,some types of powder make you look like you have a dirty face.

so i'd say the best way to put it on is to use a brush instead of the little pad thingy in it.

and the breakouts, you can't really hide the acne itself.

you can get rid of reddness with a powder,or a liquid.

liquid usually seems to work better.

    hope this helped.

Hi! i have very fair, sensitive, and oily skin, with a few dry patches on my cheeks.im looking for a foundation?

help please!Hi! i have very fair, sensitive, and oily skin, with a few dry patches on my cheeks.im looking for a foundation?
first i'd go to your dermatologist and get meds and creames if you are trying to cover up acne

then i'd look for makeup that says oil free on it

or try natural makeup like bare minerals

good luck!Hi! i have very fair, sensitive, and oily skin, with a few dry patches on my cheeks.im looking for a foundation?
im super pale as well and the only foundation that ive found that doesnt look orange on me is Dinair Airbrush Makeup...Ive been using it for 2 years now and its amazing..it makes my skin look naturally flawless...its also all water based so its not bad for ur skin. just google Dinair and you'll fidn their site...i hope i helped..=)

It comes in pale shades and it doesn't clog pores!

My foundation always wears off in patches leaving my skin look really dry, help?

    Hello :)

Do you have a skin routine? Or do you just put make up on on its own?

I used to have this exact problem, I used to just clean my face and then apply makeup, it wouldn't stay nice for long.

    http://www.clinique.co.uk/templates/prod…

I found this really helped, and has made my skin nice. So much so that some days I don't even bother with the make up :)

Obviously there are other products out there you could try, but something along the lines of this could really help :)

Good luck xMy foundation always wears off in patches leaving my skin look really dry, help?
    Hi there,

It probably looks dry because it IS dry. I've had the same problem with foundation wearing off in patches and I've reduced this problem with exfoliating and finding a good moisturizer that works for my dry skin. I also switched foundations.

Currently I am using Loreal Bare Naturals Mineral foundation with good results. The coverage of minerals is great so I use less and that also helps to not look dry and cakey. I don't find that the minerals wears off in spots either and you can build up your foundation where you'd like it heavier and use a lighter hand where you don't need so much coverage.

As for my dry skin routine, I do not use soap or toners on my face at all. I'm currently using Bioderma for my eye make up remover and La Posey Physiological Cleansing Milk as my cleanser; I moisturize with Cetaphil Barrier Cream with Shea butter. I exfoliate once or twice a month using plain white sugar from the kitchen.

Try the mineral foundation or try Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation...this is a full coverage foundation that does not budge. Honest! It will look heavier, but it's worth asking for a sample. I have tried it and loved it, but it doesn't come in a shade for my very fair complexion so I didn't continue with it.

Finally, you may find it worth visiting a dermatologist to rule out any other conditions like eczema causing those dry patches. They'll require different creams that the doc can prescribe.

Hope these suggestions help. Have a beautiful day!My foundation always wears off in patches leaving my skin look really dry, help?
If your skin is dry get a good moisturiser for dry skin and apply it before you put your foundation on. Also ,exfoliate your skin every morning to shed dead skin cell's so bits of skin don't fall of during the day when you have your make-up on which will leave it looking patchy and dry. Hope i helped.
Have you tried using a moisturizer before you apply your makeup? I used to have very oily skin and cream foundation would never sit still so I only used powder. Now I have dry skin and have to use moisturizer, then cream foundation and it lasts all day.
you should wash your face every morning and at night. Before you go to bed, and in the morning, put on moisturizer. if that doesn't work...(which it should), then use a foundation with an oil base.

    hope this helped! xOx
You can use a light Oil of olay moisturizer oil free or normal then a revlon color stay foundation. Doesn't even look like I wear make up and I get compliments all the time. People say they do not believe I wear make up. It lasts all day no fading. Good luck
    Primer :) works wonders.

If it's mousse foundation though.. this is reknown for it.

    What foundation is it?
before applying foundation put on a lotion moisturizer or get a toner from kiss my face. that helps too.=p
Nivea Visage. It`s a moisturiser and foundation all in one.
Before you put on foundation be sure to put on lots of face cream. The key is to moisturize!
put face primer and a good moisturizer !!!!
    use a mostirser:D

    Flaky foundation patches!!?

I have tried all sorts of foundation - dry skin / combo skin etc.. and all seem to leave my nose flakey and cakey looking.

I end up washing it off and re-moisturisering and trying again. But then I find it goes all funny because the moisturiser is still there..... help!!Flaky foundation patches!!?
i had the same problem but then i started using mineral make-up. i asked my friend whos a make-up artist and she gave me some really good tips and now im fine when using it.

first exfoliate to get rid of any dry or flaky skin. if you are going to be doing this every day get a super gentle one like liz earle as not to damage your skin.

allow your moisturizer to dry and absorb before applying your make-up, this may take a few minutes.

always use a non-mineral, oil-based moisturizer that will not clog pores. if your moisturizer does not absorb into your skin, neither will your mineral makeup.

use a setting powder as a base all over if you have oily skin...it will help absorb the oil naturally.

using special enhancers such as ';polished'; will refract light and make your dark under-eye cirles disappear. also use in the corner of eyes, mouth, etc. to reduce the appearance of fine lines.

mineral make-up should be applied in light layers. if you feel you need more coverage, keep applying light layers.

i have found the least drying mineral make up to be loreals true match minerals, if you follow these tips it might improve the look of it. also you could try using a deep moisturising cream before applying make-up something like elizibeth ardens eight hour moisturising cream. good luck.

    hope this helps

    xFlaky foundation patches!!?
I get the same thing and now i only wash my face at night, and use Aveeno or Cetaphil moisturizers because they're very gentle on your skin but do the job right. If your skin gets irritated easily, only wash it at night to take off your makeup then apply the moisturizer, but not too heavily or you get the funny feelin on your skin. Then in the morning, apply more moisturizer[don't wash your face], wait at least 5 minutes for your skin to soak it up, and apply a foundation like Maybelline's 'Pure Makeup' or CoverGirl's 'Clean'. If rubbing and blending the foundation irritates your skin, try a mineral foundation from Maybelline, bareMinerals, or L'Oreal's Naturale powders.

Also, you might find it helpful to exfoliate once a week(St. Ives is ok but even the sensitive formula can be rough, so I suggest using a beaded exfoliator from a brand such as Aveeno or Clearasil, or pHisoderm) and use a clay mask(like the purple one from Mary Kay) every other week.
    MOISTURIZE at night.

    EXFOLIATE in morning.

Just concentrate on dry patches. or you will end up w/ messed up oily or damaged skin if you do this daily.
Put moisturiser (lotion) on the night BEFORE. Then, in the morning, you wont be flaky or cakey. Moisturise at night!!!
You need a skin care program that exfoliates. every one needs to get rid of that dead skin.
Perhaps your moisturiser is too rich. Try applying without using moisturiser.
You need a good foundation make then.. like Mac or something. Also maybe see what works better, powder or liquid etc. Keep moisturising before though.
I use YSL perfect touch, doesn't flake or look patchy and leaves skin looking flawless all day long. Also has an SPF in it

    xx
I have the same problem. I put a thick layer of moisturizer over my dry patches wait for about 30 mins then wash your face free of moisturizer that usually helps me.
i agree a good foundation makes all the difference. Mac cosmetics are excellent, try it :)
try clinique liquid foundation.. it is great
wow stop buying foundatin from grocery stores

  • My skin has rosy patches and i can't stand foundation! any solutions?

because first of all i can't wear foundation all the time, esp. in the morning (tacky for me) and if i use foundation i look like dead and have to use eye makeup and blush and maskara. i like esp. in summer to keep things very natural.

i use a bit of YSL conceiler but i look pale, something is not right. the patches are around my nose and in the chin and a little bit on the cheeks. in YSL they sell a green foundation but when the seller put it on me, it look unnatural and definetely i needed to cover it with foundation. any ideas? keep in mind that i want a rather natural look.My skin has rosy patches and i can't stand foundation! any solutions?
bare minerals or one of the knockoffs (bare naturale or physicians formula) they will even out your skin tone %26amp; give you a NATURAL look. i use the bare naturale (by loreal) because i have freckles and an uneven skin tone....i dont like a lot of makeup %26amp; i dont like to look lilke i have any on. these types of makeup will help you achieve the look youre going for without feeling like you have a bunch of crap on your face.My skin has rosy patches and i can't stand foundation! any solutions?
I definitely would suggest that you use a tinted moisturizer. My favourite is Stila's tinted moisturizer (found at Sephora stores). It is super natural, good for your skin since it really is just a moisturizer with a little bit of colour, it contains SPF 15, and it covers unwanted redness. My skin has redness, too, along with acne scarring and tinted moisturizer covers it right up, but it doesn't look like I'm wearing any makeup!

If you don't know how to apply tinted moisturizer:

-I like to use a foundation brush. There is a great one by CARGO (also found at Sephora stores) but you can look for a cheaper one at drug stores or look at the Sephora line, which has fairly high quality products but are cheaper.

-Squeeze some tinted moisturizer on the brush and brush onto the red parts of your skin that you would like to cover. You can put on as much or as little as you would like.

-Make sure to clean the brush as often as possible so that too much bacteria does not build up.

    You will love tinted moisturizer!
Go to e.l.f. and gind their all over color stick. Its only for a dollar.
you should try the bare issentials make-up. its foundation in a powder form, and its all natural. you can use a little or build it up to full coverage.
USE A MINERAL POWDER ITS VERY LIGHT AND NATURAL..OR USE A TINTED FOUDATION (THIS FEELS LIKE LOTION AND IS APLIED LIKE LOTION) ALSO ALMAY HAS A NEW FOUDATION THAT MATCHES UR SKIN PERFECTLY THERE ARE ONLY THREE SHADES LIGHT MEDIUM AND DARK BUT IT DOES WORK
    try a face cream and then just going all natural. then if all else fail try a different maskara%26gt;
    Tan up a bit.

Try to get 1/2hr of rays around midday, early afternoon a few times a week.Use sunscreen or a tanning lotion to prevent sunburn. It will give you a natural glow
You might want to see a dermatologist or esthetician because it sounds like you might have rosacea. If a good esthetician seems expensive try beauty schools in your area they can help you find the best type of makeup and colour matches as well as help you with the red patches.

    good luck!
loreal mineral powder. it is amazing, and works the same as bare minerals. you can find it at any drug store, and its really cheap
The reason you look dead might be because you're choosing the wrong color of foundation. Mineral makeup is really natural looking. Just don't buy drugstore brands with filler, and do figure out your correct undertones. There are so many mineral makeup companies that there is sure to be your correct skin tone and it will make you look awake :)

i would reccomednd loreal ideal balence. i tadapts to suit each part of your face so it wont make the dry areas look flacky and patchy and wont make the oilyness look greasy unlike many other foundations. it totally evens out your skin and makes it look amazing. i would definately reccomend it. it also lasts through a whole day witch is great.

xWhich is the best Foundation for combination skin.Dry and oily patches?
Here are the some of the most popular Foundations:

    Almay

    Anna Sui

    Bobbi Brown

    Clinique

    Cover Girl

    Estee Lauder

Iman Beauty (good for dark skin tones)

    Lanc么me

    L'Oreal

    M.A.C.

    Maybelline

    Origins

    Philosophy

    Revlon

    Smashbox

Most important is to use a mild cleanser on your entire face twice a day. Then a good moisturizer on the dry areas only.

Look for products that normalize your skin, such as those that contain alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs or fruit acids) or retinols, a vitamin A derivative.

Use oil-absorbing make-up on the oily areas of your face to help control shine.

Do not apply much foundation either. Less is best.
I have dry skin with patches and had problems finding a foundation for years, but have just discovered Mac studio fix its amazing, went to Mac on friday for a makeover and got some amazing things, the brushes are even fantastic. I got studio tech powder and all the other basic bases. Honestly I have used loads of brands in my time and I can't believe I never tried Mac.

Also the Mac perfume smells beautiful.

Arbonne makes excellent foundation for all skin types. Also, you might want to make sure you are using a good quality moisturizer underneath your makeup. Again, I recommend Arbonne's skin care lines. I use them personally and professionally.
I have combination skin as well and find that the best foundation for myself is Rimmel's Lasting Finish. I do start off with a mattifying primer from Cargo's Blu Ray collection, a primer might be something that you should consider looking into.
I recommend Mary Kay's Creme-to-Powder Foundation. It glides on like cream to hide imperferctions, then dries to a soft powdery matte finish. It is great for all skin types.
Clinique Superbalanced is quite good for your type of skin. Also Stila Natural Finish foundation is nice too... give them a shot! Good luck
    Bourjois is a great foundation.
try the maybeline pure or cover girl clean with the BLUE cover or it will clog your pores
    Revlon

    YEAH I GOT AN IDEA

    ditch ur foundation!!!

instead use a powder foundation cuz it doesnt clog pores or make u brake out also ur skin can breath. And on top use a little and i mean little bronzer.and some blush but dont use it in circles on ur cheeks cuz it makes it look childish. Start from ur cheekbone and brush it lightly up to kinda ur ear. somewhere between ur eye and ear. hope i helped!!How do avoid ';orange spots'; from foundation on dry patches of your face?
Moisturizer helps me i like Neutrogena
mix your foundation with a little bit of facial lotion
do you use moisturizer daily? start using Cetaphil face wash and moisturizer! that will definitely help with the dry spots. and with the orange spots... are you using a right foundation color? you may need to go a lot lighter.

test foundation on your jawline then take a mirror outside to see if its the right shade. don't be embarrassed to do so. its your face, so put your best one forward :D
You might try using an exfoliator on your face once a week. It will remove some of the dry patches and make it super smooth. And make sure you use a good moisturizer.

I would also try switching foundations, that one doesnt sound like it's the right shade for you. And when you apply it, use a foundation brush or sponge to get a nice even application. If you dont need as much coverage you could also try a powder foundation.
Use a hydrating mask at least once a week, then more if you need it. Then moisturize before applying your foundation.
a richer moisturizer should help. Give it time to dry a bit before putting on your foundation.

Also, you may be getting a reaction to the foundation. Think about switching to a different formula/brand, in a shade matching, and see if it makes a difference.

How to get perfect foundation? no streaks and patches?

I've tried a lot of different foundations like mac, revlon and now max factor long lasting which I like the best. Yet still I get streaky foundation and dark and lighter patches on my face which looks unnatural. Any tips or tricks? How to get perfect foundation? no streaks and patches?
my mom had the same problem until i gave her an elf foundation brush. it's a US$1.oo. It's thinner than most foundation brushes so it can maneuver in to those smaller areas like the inner corners of your eyes. The elf counter girl calls it their foundation and concealer brush (even if elf has a separate and different concealer brush) because it's that tapered and the thinnest foundation brush i've seen.

i prefer that brush than sponges or my fingers. sponges are a waste of foundation and fingers, well you get the streaks.

see here. http://www.eyeslipsface.com/brushes/foun鈥?/a>How to get perfect foundation? no streaks and patches?
Certain foundations/concealers, especially liquid, could cause streaking, blotchiness, and an unnatural look on your face. What I would suggest is using a mineral-based concealer. I like Physician's Formula brand makeup (Mineral Wear is the name of it). Other brands, such as Revlon, have mineral makeup too. This way, the minerals don't clog your pores, they can't blotch or streak your face, and it feels weightless, where as liquid foundation or other pressed compacts feel like you have makeup caked on. I would recommend getting a shade as close to your skin tone as possible; however, if you can't, I would go one shade lighter, because darker makeup is unnatural. Mineral Makeup could be pricy; however, it's worth it.
I use a cream/mousse foundation that is the same as my skin tone, possibly even a little darker. then, to make it go evenly onto your skin, i use an ultra sheer lotion and blend it with the foundation in my palm until the desired tint of foundation is reached. then put it on evenly the same way you put on lotion

because it is diluted you will not be able to notice blotchiness on your face from areas of thick foundation

hope this helps! trust me, try it!:)
i personally use mary kay, which is great, but it can be expensive.. but whichever kind you choose, pick a shade and dab a little on your finger, then try applying it right on your jaw bone, and your cheek, then blend it to see if it looks like you're wearing a mask.

also, if you know any mary kay representatives, they can take you to a class, where they teach you how to do all your make up, and it looks really good too.

    hope i helped.(:
if u apply it with a sponge dampen it before applying the mascara to dilute it just enough so it wont be too much of a harsh color but not to much that it doesnt offer coverage

when u got the mac did they check which color matched best?

if not ask them to next time

and when u finish apply foundation apply some powder foundation to help it set
What i do is i put my hair back in my headband and then really look at where im going with the foundation so i dont get it in my hair or eyebrows

also it might be streaking from sweat or somethingg.
Try a different application method. It can be streaky if you use your fingers or a foundation brush. Try a stippling brush

Best foundation to cover up dark brown patches on face?

For about a year now, my skin is developing very dark brown patches. I was diagnosed by a dermatologist with something, that i honestly forgot the name of. ( i need to use sunblock from now on.)

Anyway, they are getting darker and my regular foundation which is Remmell, which i love is no longer fully covering these patches.

    Please... Any suggestions??

Thanks!Best foundation to cover up dark brown patches on face?
You should really focus on improving your skin first. The Make-up Forever Brand makes great products that are specifically made to improve uneven skin color or texture. It is pricier than drugstore brands but it is well worth it. A bottle will last longer than a drugstore brand bottle because the quality allows you to use less.Best foundation to cover up dark brown patches on face?
First use concealer, let it settle for about 10 seconds. Then use CoverGirl Clean Makeup Foundation. It works wonders. It literally makes my skin glow. I have a brown spot on my left cheek and it's barely noticeable.

After you let your foundation dry, use loose powder and blend well.

    Hope this helps :)

  • I have been looking for a really good foundation to cover red patches and dark circles, any suggestions?!?

Have really red cheeks that thankfully are not due to rosacea but are still kind of unflattering, as well as very dark circles (lack of sleep, pleasures of being a parent!). What I'm looking for is something that will cover well but not look cakey. I'm hoping for something reasonably priced but if it works then I'd be prepared to pay out for it! If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful. Thanks xI have been looking for a really good foundation to cover red patches and dark circles, any suggestions?!?
I can comiserate with your issues as I have a touch or resacea and have always had red cheeks myself. I have found a few things that work brilliantly. In terms of foundation, I usually apply an oil free liquid foundation all over my face with a foundation brush, and then touch up the red areas with a more high coverage formula. I finish off with a translucent loose powder to set everything and keep it all in place. This prevents things from getting too cakey or thick, it won't look like you are wearing a mask.

Some brands that I can recommend,

Bobbi Brown- fantastic oil free foundation offers medium coverage. I use their blemish stick to cover the red areas. Stays in place beautifully and never looks cakey. Their powder is like heaven and works a charm.

Bare Escentuals- the key here is moderation. You are never going to get full coverage without looking overly made up, but if you don't mind a bit of a flushed look, this works well and lets the skin breathe which is nice.

MAC- great foundation here, and their concealer is good too. Lots of different formulations to choose from. I would stick to the liquids for foundation and the concealer pots for coverage. I don't love their cream foundation formulas for every day, they just move around too much and maximize the look of my pores.

Studio Gear- great foundation at a lower price. Available at Ulta and gives a very natural looking medium coverage. Leaves the skin looking dewey and fresh. Best bet on a budget.

Benefit- they make a yellow tinted coverup style stick. This stuff works GREAT. I was skeptical, but I keep it in my purse and my kit for when I need a quick touch up and can't do my full face. This stuff really covers and neutralizes the red without looking heavy or unnatural.

As for the dark circles, a little cover up can go a long way. Make sure you are using a formula that isn't too drying as this can bring out the appearance of fine lines, crows feet and wrinkles around the eye (not attractive). I also recommend getting a highlighter and using that under the eye. This reflects light and diminishes the appearance of dark circles without using a ton of makeup. Apply this under your foundation and it might to the trick without using any coverup at all. Try Benefit, they make a nice one. Experimentation is key. Try a few products and see what works for your skin. Good luck!I have been looking for a really good foundation to cover red patches and dark circles, any suggestions?!?
To hide dark circles, use a pink or salmon-colored concealor. Pink cancels out the bluish color of dark circles. Look for concealors made for ';cool'; undertones (L'Oreal makes some in their True Match line if you want a drugstore product), or some brands make very pink correcting concealors. If the concealor is really pink, you'll probably want to layer a more skintone-colored concealor or foundation on top to help blend it into your skin. Aromaleigh's Cream Concealor in Pink (www.aromaleigh.com -- click Traditional Cosmetics) is excellent, and it doesn't smear off or settle into my fine lines like other concealors! Their Coquille Correcting Powder in Rose also works well but is probably best for fair skin.

However, if you have really purple-ish circles, you may find that a light lemony-yellow concealor works best. (Yellow cancels out purple, but yellow and blue make green!)

Yellow and green both cancel out redness. Try to find a foundation with yellow undertones (most foundations now a days have yellow [warm] undertones unless they're specifically labeled ';cool'; or ';neutral';). If that's not enough, you can also use a corrective powder in green or yellow underneath your foundation. Again, I like Aromaleigh's Coquille Correcting Powders in Juane or Vert (click ';Face'; on the sidebar) but I'm sure other brands make similar products.

As far as specific brands, different brands work better for different people. Everyone has different skintones, so you're probably not going to find an exact match in every brand. However I do really like Aromaleigh if you can't tell -- it's mineral makeup so it's healthier for your skin than traditional products, and their foundations come in a wide variety of colors (it's the only brand that makes a foundation pale enough for me!) Many girls with rosacea and other redness love their Y and YL foundation colors. I found that Alabaster mixed with 1W is my perfect match -- it cancels out my red cheeks/nose/chin while perfectly matching the color of my jawline/forehead/neck so there's no visible makeup line! If you do try Aromaleigh, make sure you order samples first because they don't accept returns! And if you're on a budget, they put different products on sale each week so just time your purchases around sales!
you need a concealer well two actually one that is green for the cheecks and one that is yellow for the eyes. neutrogena makes then and so does physcians formula
yes...i have the same problem my cheeks are rosie but its not rosacea. i use to things and they work GREAT i have used them both for the past 5 years. maybeline green corrector concealer stick.....it comes in a tube like lipstick but it is green and then physician's formula green powder.

you can get both of these at wal-mart. i apply the green corrector first then my foundation then the green powder and then my bronzer or regular powder. i am telling you this works Wonderfully. hope this helps!
    h
they have a green stick that will cover up redness, cheap and easy.
To hide dark cicrles I use Arbonne liquid foundation, and it actually works!!!
well what you can get is covergirl foundation and then to go over that you can get a liquid any kind really

Is it necessary to patch cracks in concrete foundations in homes?

there is a hairline crack approximately 10 feet long in the house. It was discovered when a water pipe in the foundation broke and water seeped up into the house through this crack. Is it necessary to patch cracks in concrete foundations in homes?
Soils under your house can act as a sponge contracting and expanding during wet/dry periods. Depending on how long the pipe had been leaking, it is possible that the soil under your home expanded and caused the crack, in which a patch will be just fine. If you have noticed other cracks in your floor, walls or on the exterior of your house you may have some foundation movement. I work for a house leveling company, the repair can be very costly but saves you ALOT in the long run.Is it necessary to patch cracks in concrete foundations in homes?
I would think that It would be necessary. Take care of the problem when it is small. You never know down the road it might turn into a bigger mess. Like your basement leaking and causing mold.
yes use a epoxy compound found at your local hardware.
often times patching a foundation crack from the inside doesnt do much good, the water pressure 8 feet down in the earth with that much dirt pushing on is is very high, if the water builds up alot against the foundation, it will push through the crack even if its patched from the inside...it will just force off the sealant.
You should fix it now before it gets worse.

If you live in a climate where it cools and heats during the seasons then it will only get bigger quickly. Even in a warm climate it'll worsen as time goes by.

Fix it now while it's little, but long, rather than wait until it's wider and longer. The smaller the crack, the less money it'll cost to have it fixed or fix it yourself.
NO its not neccesary....Ive had cracks in mine for over 30 yrs...

and they never got worse, its simply the house setlling in most cases..

What can I use to patch cracked concrete foundations between each cinder block?

We have the motar in the foundation of our house that is slowly falling out. What can we used to fill the small gaps? They are for cinder blocks that are in good condition, however the cement in between is decaying. We've never had to replace or repair something like this. Any recommendation? What can I use to patch cracked concrete foundations between each cinder block?
if you are going to go through the trouble to fix it , do it right...grind out the bad joints ...dampen joints and tuck with fresh mortar...mix it in a bucket 2 1/2 sand to one mortar by volume...keep it as stiff as you can and still work with it...tuck it in with a tucking tool from the hardware store...when almost set joint it with a striking iron...What can I use to patch cracked concrete foundations between each cinder block?
Lowe's sells this motor you can use it then use concreate seal on top of that befor you paint it. i would also get a couple of extra blocks just in case you may need them
If the walls are in good shape, are still vertical, and don't bulge or sag, you could just use some more cement to replace the stuff that has fallen out. Stand at one end of the wall with your head against the block, and sight down along it to see if it bulges.

But if there are large cracks, or if the wall has tilted in, or if it looks like there is a bulge somewhere, you need to have a qualified builder look at it. If the foundation wall is moving, you have a serious problem.
If there is no sign of the wall bulging or cracking then simply scrape out the loose %26amp; crumbling mortar and get something called 'mortar caulk' and squeeze it in there. Smooth it over with your wet fingers and thats about it.

What is best for patching foundation crack or flaw that leaks?

Tar or hydraulic cement? I tried concrete and roof cement ,with just the concrete it still leaked, hoping that roof cement can stop leaking,,,not sure what to do if it doesn't work,,, any suggestions? thanksWhat is best for patching foundation crack or flaw that leaks?
As you have found out, you can not use regular concrete. You have to use hydraulic cement. On top of this you have to make sure that you chisel out the crack deep enough for the hydraulic cement to expand and grip the existing concrete.

This is acceptable for small leaks like rusting concrete form ties. However when it is a much larger crack you can go with polyurethane concrete injection at about $30 per foot.

Otherwise cracks have to be repaired from the outside where the hydraulic pressure of the ground water is being applied. If the crack is high enough, you can dig down manually, clean the wall, apply the tar/fiberglass/tar coating at least one foot on either side of the crack. If the crack is lower down and you can manually dig it out, it would be best to use the tar/fiberglass/tar along with a dimpled membrane that will allow the ground water to your weeping tile. This is assuming that your weeping tiles are working properly.

The best solution is to have your whole foundation wall sealed but that is expensive as you obviously know having asked the question about patching. Abalon is expensive. They do know their stuff, however. There are other contractors who can do it for less. What is best for patching foundation crack or flaw that leaks?
Hydraulic cement. I have used it in a basement next to the Illinois river and it worked great. It will also work even if the area is wet. Chiseling out the area is a good idea to give it a clean area and also to give it more area to bond. If the area is painted, use a wire brush attachment on a drill to remove any loose paint. Make sure you only mix up enough to use in a short time period as it sets up very fast.
The only way to really seal it is to dig down on the outside of the foundation, seal the crack properly with cements and tar then back fill. The inside can be filled with epoxy designed for concrete sealing but not before the crack is secured from the outside.

It's a ***** to do but the best way I know.
Use aqua plug cement but take note this stuff will dry within 6 to 8 minutes so, make it sure you mix enough to handle within 5 minutes so that you don't waste the materials.Good luck....

Owsss... one more thing those crack need more opening before you patch in order it will properly stick this aqua plug cement. This material you caeasilyly pick up at the hardware store or even at the paint store that carry some other stuff (not only paint)

When i apply my foundation it goes into patch's but use Clinique products?

Since you use Clinique, get the 7-Day Scrub, or any kind of exfoliator. I personally like the 7-Day Scrub because it leaves extra moisture on the skin.

You wash your face and dry it. Then apply the scrub in light circular motions. Rinse off, then follow with the remaining steps.

Exfoliating will remove the dead skin cells on the skin's surface. You are not going to get any moisturizer in where the patches are because there is an excess of dry, dead skin cells. Exfoliating will help to get rid of them and open your pores so that moisture can get in.

I would also try Clinique Super Defense SPF moisturizer (love this) as well as Moisture Surge. Super Defense will work with dry skin, and Moisture Surge will work with dry flakes. Also, look into Total Turnaround Concentrate, which is a time released exfoliator. This brings fresh cells to the surface, makes skin brighter and more even toned. I have been using this for a while, and my skin looks great.

In the morning, I am using philosophy's micro-delivery exfoliating facial wash. This is fine to use every day, preferably in the morning before makeup. As a daily exfoliant it will keep the surface skin free of dead skin - pores appear smaller, skin is smoother, and makeup applies better.

Drink more water, too. It is very important for skin hydration as well.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Happy Birthday! When i apply my foundation it goes into patch's but use Clinique products?
since u are using clinique you can try the clinique moisture surge... also u can try using smashbox light primer to have your foundation stay on... then after your foundation out on stila loose powder so it will keep your skin from drying out..

What is the proper way to patch an old home's stone foundation?

if there are no structural problems, it's a matterof repositioning the stones. You;ll need a good bonding epoxy based concrete mix. wet the existing surface, it makes for a better bond, and fill in the small spaces well before placing the stones. If it has gotten bad, I would recommend calling a mason to come out. Just don't let them use regular Type S mortar mix. It's not that strong.

There is a product called BONDEX. It is a powder you mix with water. It is a waterproofer and concrete Sealer made specifically for cinder block walls. It can be used inside or outside and it comes in several neutral colors or plain white. Works great and isn't expensive. You can buy it at any Home Depot store or Lowes Home Center StoresI need to patch my foundation what kind of cement do I buy?
The hard kind.I need to patch my foundation what kind of cement do I buy?
I would buy hydraulic cement. It expands in the crack and seals better. Small batches as it cures quickly.
You can get a cement patch compound that is specifically made for that. If you're looking at a crack that needs to be filled, I would recommend concrete repair epoxy. It will fill the crack and adhere really well. Ask for it at a home improvement store.

What should I use to patch missing mortar between my foundation blocks?

Before I purchased my home it had been empty for a long time and at one point the basement had been flooded up to the basement windows with water. I did not know this when I purchased the house. Anyway, I can see daylight through the basement walls from the inside looking out, between the cement blocks. What kind of morter or whatever should I use to patch and plug the holes? What should I use to patch missing mortar between my foundation blocks?
Clean away any loose mortar. Use prepackaged mortar mix that you can get at any home improvement store. Wet down the area you are working in and use the edge of the trowel to force mortar between the cracks. This is called tuck pointing.

Wetting down the block prevents the dry block from sucking all the water out of your mortar mix making it less strong.

Strike off the joint with a rounded tool to make it look like the other stable blocks. Do this on both sides of the block. It is time consuming, but will be worth your effort.

I would so a small section at a time rather than disturbing all of the block at once.

Good luck! What should I use to patch missing mortar between my foundation blocks?
If you can see daylight between the bricks in your basement, call a contractor immediately. I think there is a major issue with the foundation of your house, it may not be safe.
    1. As Ben said, have it checked by a professional.

    2. Chisel away any loose mortar from the cracks in the blocks and replace it with a portland based cement.
well i can tell you that that tuck pointing an empty joint is tough especially for someones thats never done it b4. take a bit of fiberglass insulation, stuff the joint 'til its about 3/4 to the outer part of the joint. any hardware store will sell caulking specially made for your project. ask them, they ll point you the way. you need no special tools other than a caulking gun. if you find that your fix has separated again, get it checked immediately. if it doesnt move through a winter season, chances are its done moving for now.----------whoever gave me a thumbs down doesnt know their *ss from first base. mortar caulking is easier and neater than anybody can dream up in here

How do you patch a crumbling cement foundation at the bottom of a garage?

what is the best cement to use?How do you patch a crumbling cement foundation at the bottom of a garage?
    You want to use mortar.

Brixment is a good company that makes mortar. Use the kind that you have to mix with sand. Don't get the kind that is already mortar and sand mixed. It is worthless.

Get the kind that you have to mix the sand in yourself. Brixment type m is what you need. Along with mason sand.

The ratio is about 1 shovel of mortar per 3 shovels of sand. Also directions come on the bag. It will tell how much water to use to get the right consistency.

You will need a masons trowel. It looks like a small hand held spade. You will also need a pointer. This is a tool that is a bout the width of a finger and is used to fill in the joints between the block. After you have mixed the mortar in a wheel barrow or mixer, Apply the mortar to trowel. Fill in the joints using the pointer. You may need a slick which is basically a real skinny narrow type of trowel used to place mortar in hard to reach areas. Once the mortar is in the joints, use the pointer(striker) to make the joint look real nice.

If you have any more questions, post them in additional details on your question here. I will check it regularly to see if you need more help. Good luck. How do you patch a crumbling cement foundation at the bottom of a garage?

You'll want to use a structural rated cementious repair product like SikaRepair 123 or 223.

    or Rapid Set's Concrete mix.

You should make sure whatever product you use has a early high gaining strength .
Bubblegum and paperclips. Superglue if you've got it.

Small 2X2 patch in my foundation that I need to sand down. Is there any way besides renting a floor sander?

We are putting down laminate and this patch is about 1/4in higher than the rest of the floor. I hate to rent a huge machine for such a small spot. Is there anything like a grinder or dremel type tool that I can use instead?Small 2X2 patch in my foundation that I need to sand down. Is there any way besides renting a floor sander?
You can use an angle grinder but it will make a ton of dust. I would recommend using a wide cold chisel and a hammer. Knock it down and if it's low and not perfect, skimcoat it with Ardex SPD or Feather Finish.

I have a chipper hammer at work so it's easy to recommend this.

Even if you don't get it all the way down, you can probably still float it and feather it out so it won't be noticeable.

Of course this all assumes you are talking about a concrete subfloor.Small 2X2 patch in my foundation that I need to sand down. Is there any way besides renting a floor sander?
use an angle grinder and diamond blade...but instead of grinding the whole thing , make kerfs and inch apart and as deep as you need them... take you hammer and chisel to knock down the kerfs...less dust this way...
Use a side grinder it can be rented from home depot for a few bucks and it will take less than an hour to do that small of an area.
Use a floor sander. Is this a basement slab? I'm sure it isn't a foundation.
I find a belt sander with heavy grit paper can do it.
If its 2'; x 2'; and concrete - chip it off with a bolster and hammer.

if its 2' x 2', add hardboard to the rest of the floor to bring it up level.

If it's timber a belt sander will shift it.
Any run of the mill hand sander will do, but will take some elbow grease.
A floor sander for 1/4'; high on 2X2 seems overkill. Rental places have grinders for much less. For better results, I would just buy a cheap angle grinder (the wheel is perpendicular to the shaft/body of the grinder) and get a couple of 1/4'; extreme grit grinding wheels for it. The, you can run the wheel back and forth and see what you are doing depth wise. In a pinch, use some water to assist in dissolving the top finish of the concrete, but be prepared to get a bit splashed if you do, and protect anything close that you don't want a concrete slurry coating on. After finishing, you still have the grinder for future use. They take all sorts of grinding wheels, and I have even used mine with a mini saw blade that usually goes with a craft type table saw, for other projects including smoothing off edges of drywall, cutting small pieces of wood for craft projects, notching wood, etc.

Cost would be about the same as renting, maybe a bit less.

Use a level to see if your grinding is getting you where you want.
